Gypsy Songs in New Jersey

The band Caravan of Thieves is playing an April 17 concert in Bordentown, New Jersey. Their music can best be described as jazz, swing and gypsy songs which have gone through an evolutionary process over the years.

The husband and wife duo chose a gypsy jazz sound to distinguish themselves, and released a critically acclaimed album called Bouquet in 2009. That album is a collection of dramatic and satirical tales put to music, and the band earned many followers on its first US tour by performing a stage show along with their songs. Adding Brian Anderson on bass and Ben Dean on violin has given Caravan of Thieves more thumping bass and acoustic guitar backups for their violin arrangements. Hardcore fans are likely to show up at the concert dressed in interesting costumes that match the bands' music, and the audience can always expect to be very involved in the show.
