Bernadette Peters Performs Gypsy Songs

Bernadette Peters entertained an audience in Lincoln, Nebraska at the Lied Center for Performing Arts as she sang "Let Me Entertain You" and other "Gypsy" songs made famous in the musical. It was her first performance in Lincoln, and the 63 year old actress looked more like she was 33 as she took the stage in a sparkling lavender, low-cut evening gown.

She performed a repertoire of Stephen Sondheim songs, backed by her musical director and pianist Marvin laird, drummer Cubby O'Brien, and the eight-piece Nebraska Symphony Chamber Orchestra. Her vocals ranged from sultry on Peggy Lee's "Fever" to powerful on the musical theater show tunes. She ended the night with the lullaby "Kramer's Song", which she wrote to accompany her children's book. Nathan Pacheco opened for Peters, performing eight pieces including several arias from Italian operas.
